Banquet and Keynote: How Editors Think with Brian Hades, JM Landels and Sandra KasturiThis will be a catered banquet by the hotel on Saturday evening including three rounds of talks from some amazing publishers. What do editors appreciate in an author, both in their attention to craft and their professional interactions? For example, it is important for writers to understand the various services editors offer to writers such as developmental, substantive and copy editing. Come and listen to these experienced editors share their experiences and insight on how to find and develop an effective relationship with an editor. Blue Pencil SessionsThis is your opportunity to sit down with an industry professional for fifteen minutes, to share you work and receive immediate feedback. Bring three pages of your best work (double-spaced for authors, artwork for artists ). The pro will read (or view) your work and give their input. You may also want to bring your questions about troubles you're having with the piece. You must have a 2017 Membership to sign up! Sign up runs March 4th to March 22nd. IF spots are still open at the festival, you can sign up for more! Email firstname.lastname@example.org NOTE: Please email us with your first choice and second choice of Blue Pencil Pro Author. We will do our best to fit everyone with their requested pro, but if it becomes necessary, we may need to use your second choice. Members are allowed to book two blue pencil sessions. Pitch SessionsThis is your chance to pitch your work to publishers and editors. You must have a 2017 Membership to sign up! Sign up runs March 4th to March 22nd. IF spots are still open at the festival, you can sign up for more!

KaffeeklatchesWhat's a Kaffeeklatch? It's a chance to sit down with one of our Guests of Honour to have coffee (or tea, or water!) and chat in a more intimate setting. Have you been to a conference or convention before and while having a great time learning and networking, ever felt guilty for not actually getting any creative work done? Now you can!
The idea behind Ink Club is to give writers, artists and creative people of all types, the peer pressure nudge to sit down and actually be productive! (wow!) We'll combine focused Creative Time with breaks for socializing with the goal of making progress on our creative projects.
Join in at any point. If it's a quiet work time, just settle in and get to work! We'll chat to you on the next break. Stay for as much or as little as you like.
Format Example, actual times TBA: Note: You can attend for as much or as little as you like!
6:00pm to 6:15pm - Fifteen Minutes: Time to settle in and maybe even socialize before getting creative.
6:15pm-7:00pm - Forty-five Minutes: Creative Time!
7:00pm-7:15pm - Fifteen Minutes: Time for a break and socializing. (or feel free to continue working right through the break if you're on a roll!)
7:15pm - 8:00pm - Forty-five Minutes: Creative Time!
First rule of Ink Club, you don't talk during Creative Time! Okay, there can be talking, but the goal is to keep it to a minimum to create a quiet, focused environment.
